A highlight in the calendar here at Blas y Tir, the Royal Welsh Show attracts visitors from Wales, the UK and beyond, and the Royal Welsh Show 2018 was no different. We’re always delighted to be able to continue to support the show by showcasing our delicious Pembrokeshire Early Potatoes in the Welsh Food Hall!
Held 23rd – 27th July 2018, the four day event attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors from all backgrounds, looking to discover and explore the Welsh agricultural industry, shop ’til they drop and tuck into the delicious food on offer in the Welsh food hall.
Setting up in the foodhall on the Sunday afternoon, we were ready and raring to go by the time Monday morning came. Giving away free samples of Pembrokeshire Early Potatoes with Welsh butter and fresh mint, we were also selling 1kg bags of our yummy Pembrokeshire
Earlies either in hessian pixie bags or on their own.
Monday also saw us head down to the Tesco stand
on the showground and provide samples of our Pembrokeshire Earlies with Welsh butter and mint to visitors looking to discover the range of Welsh produce stocked in their local Tesco stores.
Our Pembrokeshire Early Potatoes were awarded PGI status in 2013 due to their distinctive flavour, heritage and growing methods.
This means that, as a consumer, you can be certain that when you pick up a bag of Pembrokeshire Earlies they have been grown by dedicated Pembrokeshire growers, with generations of knowledge behind them!
Our Pembrokeshire Earlies continued to be a big hit in the Welsh Food Hall!
On Wednesday we enjoyed the opportunity to sample our Pembrokeshire Early Potatoes on the Co-operative stand for the second year running! Sampling alongside a range of other delicious Welsh produce, consumers were invited to
‘take a journey’ through Welsh food and sample all of the products on offer in turn – including our Pembrokeshire Earlies. We love hearing your lovely comments about our delicious produce!
We also had a visit from the Scarlets Rugby Team, who we continue to support and work with to promote healthy living and nurture home-grown talent. Thanks for popping by boys!
On Thursday we had a very important visitor pop by the stand – Prime Minister Theresa May!
Visiting the Royal Welsh Show to discover Welsh produce and hold discussions on site about the agricultural
community, the PM popped into the Welsh Food Hall to discover some of the delicious produce available.
Marketing Manager Megan from Blas y Tir talked to Mrs May about Pembrokeshire Early Potatoes, their Protected Geographical Indicator status and the promotion of Welsh produce across the border.
